Greengrocer 菜檔
Greengrocer 菜檔 captures the essence of a quiet, pedestrianised section of Canton Road in Yau Ma Tei. Here, the owner of a small, vegetable stall sells fresh produce to passersby. From early morning, and with a huge smile on her face, she sets up her stall neatly with piles of leafy greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, bak choi, gourd, lotus root and a variety of local vegetables. They glisten and gleam in the morning light. She loves interacting with her customers. Often, her friends gather around her stall, chatting away. With the fast pace of the modern world, she is a reminder of the importance of human connection, community and the simple joy of sharing time with people.
